The first tannery of fine leathers in the world gold medal Lwg (Leather Working Group) is based in Ponte a Egola. The certification was issued to La Patrie, a company that produces precious metal-free leathers.
A result that confirms the high quality standards of a very young project, which came to life between the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015, but which already boasts ISO 9001 and ISO14001 certifications.
Lwg is a group that brings together some of the major stakeholders of the fashion-leather supply chain on an international level, promoting good practices and assessing the environmental performance of its members. “It was a great satisfaction – says Leonardo Traversi, one of the founding members together with Arlen Benedict Cenac Jr, Giuseppe Garone, Adriano Paoli and Luca Doni -. We got a very high score. The traceability guarantees adopted by our company, the definition of quality and monitoring protocols, the creation of an internal research and development laboratory, have played a decisive role.

For example we have implemented a procedure for the “reading” of colors through an instrument (spectrophotometer), which allows you to check the correspondence between the color of the customer master and the production made, the saturation of the same and its brightness, putting us in a certify the tone of our products on the basis of an objective parameterization system ». From here, a French maison, client of the company, to propose the “La Patrie” model to all its suppliers.
The company is also the first with a production system that has allowed the industrialization of the metal-free tanning process on exotic leather, with a consequent “low environmental impact”, due to the absence of metals, a reduced use of chemical agents , and substantial energy savings.
