The forecasts of the new councilors of the Ponte a Egola tanners consortium: message of hope.
The sector looks forward and hope above all to the reopening of the shops. They will be the true indicator of the world of economy to come. We talk about it with five entrepreneurs who are also the new advisors of the Tanners Consortium of Ponte a Egola. Leonardo Traversi (Conceria Le Patrie) explains: “The lokdown has had an economic and psychological impact. The real question is what it will be like with the shops open, because customers will come back to buy when there is the freedom to show off. I can’t hide that we have concerns, but it is also true that we are continuing to produce and improve in order to be ready to give answers when there is a real restart “.
What will be the next few months is the topic of reflection for everyone. “Today’s work is what we left behind – says Luca Tempesti (Tempesti tannery and also CEO of the Tanning Technology Center). There is no certainty about the future, the health emergency has eaten us time and the push now, is trying to recover it. There are many questions we ask ourselves: sales of production already in stores before the outbreak of the pandemic risks ending up on sale. What will happen with the winter? And with summer 2021? these questions will tell us how this work will move and what chance of recovery we will have. “
Simone Nieri (Virgilio Conceria Artigiana) does not hide the fears: “The situation is not the most beautiful and the months that await us will be characterized by difficulties – he notes -. The recovery will be slow and I think we will come back to see something between September and October. Our sector will have certain answers when we know how the world will restart. But I am not so pessimistic, because it is also true that after every storm the sun always returns “.
Alessio Monti (Lamonti Cuoio): “It is difficult to say that everything will be fine, but it is also difficult to say that everything will be bad – the entrepreneur underlines – the market trend is still unclear and above all we have to see how consumption resumes. I have however, a conviction and also a lot of hope: our area has the best product in the world, and I believe that if we find a way to advertise Italian production even more, there will be no problems “.
Massimo Caponi (Conceria Cmc): “The production slowdown is there, a season is almost lost and there is time to recover – he explains -. In order to have a positive first situation, it will be necessary to wait for September, while a complete normalization may arrive in December. Many factors will influence this forecast and some variables: China is ready to go back to shopping, but there is to be seen what is happening in Europe and America. The situation is evolving, the fashion houses are on the move, we also see the choices they will make. However, I believe that people want to go back to shopping. And this is fundamental “.
